Extra-curricular life is very important and at Alconburt Welad Church Academy we want all students to participate in extra-curricular activities. The following will be available to all students.
Electives
All students will choose one compulsory elective which will be on either a Tuesday or Wednesday and last for 45 minutes. The range of electives on offer will vary based on staff specialisms, student interests and resource availability, but we expect to be able to offer clubs such as the following for students in Year 7. Electives will be chosen at the start of each term. If an elective is over-subscribed and a student is unable to get their first choice elective in the Autumn Term then they will be given priority in the Spring Term.

Sports
The school will look to enter teams into local and regional competitions and there will be the chance for students to represent the school in sports such as football, rugby, netball and cricket.
Performing Arts
In addition to our specialist music offer, there will be a range of performing arts opportunities on offer over the year, most notably the chance to perform in our school production.
